Mince pies and end of term high fives

It has been a busy Autumn for the club with lots of rollerski sessions for us all to choose from including the new BKCat track in Wakefield. For now our trial has finished at the track with the hill (more to come later about them there hills!) but we are squeezing in another couple of session in York before we all break for Christmas holidays.

Friday night from 7.30 – 9pm and Sunday morning 9am – 11am

The Sunday session will incorporate a Winter Handicap race, mince pies and secret Santa – for more details head on over to Facebook and make sure you put Sunday 11th December in your diary!

We’ve even got a Yorkshire Dales walk on Saturday so if you’re interested get in touch ASAP.

**NEW** Wakefield cycle track opening soon!

Over the summer there were murmurings of a brand new cycle track being built at a school in Wakefield. Was it really happening? What was it going to look like? Would we be able to use it? Whispers quickly became conversations and then now it has slowly become a reality!

We are super excited here at YDCCSC as there are so few places that are away from traffic that offer super smooth tarmac for rollerskiing – the arrival of a new track can only mean good news for us all! Members of the committee visited the facility before it had even been finished being built and my oh my they were impressed 🙂

Keep a close eye out for further details of rollerski sessions starting there very soon…have a little sneak peek by going to their website: http://cyclecircuitbkcat.co.uk/

Winter is nearly here!

Apologies for the super long time since we last posted….our Autumn 2016 newsletter is due for publication very soon so keep an eye out for that in your inboxes if you are a YDCCSC member…don’t forget we’ll also upload it to the newsletter tab so you can see what the club has been getting up to over the summer.

The 30 Days of Snowsport campaign is going strong throughout the UK – we got involved with a fab set of rollerski races to kick it off (race report to follow) and we’ll be doing more races to draw it to close next weekend…we’ll update you with the details ASAP

We have loads more to tell you about so over the next few days, we’ll be adding a few blog posts to get you up to speed!

Back Safe and Sound

All returned safe and sound from the annual club trip to Austria last night. A good time was had despite a slight lack of decent snow. Our secretary and treasurer even made it to the track this morning only 9 hours after touching down at the airport! Photos will be uploaded onto the Gallery page over the next few weeks.

It was another busy session today with all available boots and skis in use. (If anyone is thinking of buying their own please see www.rollerski.co.uk  -But seek advice from Martin Roscoe before splashing out!)

A great start to 2016!

It was cold but dry and bright for the first roller ski session of the year at York Sports Village. And how marvellous to see so many new faces! About 20 donned roller skis for the very first time including 4 children, all of whom progressed through the drills and looked like they’d been several times before.

It will be great to have some new members for 2016……

Snow snow snow!

Before Christmas Eve gets into full swing (unless it already has in which case you will be reading this some time next week – hope you had a great Christmas!) , we thought it only right to send a few festive wishes your way.

Our fingers and toes are crossed for lots of the white stuff – these weather people can and do often get it wrong (ever the optimist) – the club will send out info if and when this does happen over the Christmas period. We can all get together and have a little slide and glide…fingers still firmly crossed 🙂

Merry Christmas everyone!
